MIND: Nature and Mindfulness in Central Park

In the 1980s, shinrin-yoku—which translates to “bathing in the forest atmosphere”—emerged in Japan as a public health effort to ameliorate and prevent feelings of burnout and overload in densely populated cities.

The Davis Center is designed to give you an experience of connection and renewal. In the Gathering Space, you'll see that you don’t need a forest to engage with nature. Through practices of mindfulness, grounding, and sensory-based learning, discover how you can take these forest-bathing techniques with you wherever you go.

Join us in the Gathering Space to immerse yourself in the Park's beauty and let the seasonal sights melt your worries away.

Please arrive 15 minutes early.

This session is part of ROOTED, a wellness series in Central Park’s north end. Each Wednesday (4:00 pm–7:00 pm) and Saturday (10:00 am–1:00 pm) from September 17–November 8, you can join a full ”window” of Mind, Body, and Soul wellness experiences. Come for this session—or explore all three for the complete three-hour journey.
